The deep-water towing tank is 300m long, 16m wide and 7.5m deep, equipped with a towing carriage (maximum speed 10m/s) and a multi-element wave generation system with maximum wave height of 0.55m. The tank can be used to carry out resistance tests in calm water or wave, propeller tests, maneuvering tests and self-propulsion tests of various vessels, and tests of ocean renewable energy converters.
Equipped with:
Carriage: A main carriage with the velocity in 0.1-10m/s; and a secondary carriage as platform to mounting models;
Wave generators: Flap-type wave maker for regular and irregular waves simulation with 40 segments; maximum wave height is 0.55m.
Instrumentation
Dynamometers for resistance test, propulsion test, open water test and POD/Azimuth thruster;
Non-contact optical system for motion capture.
